Well, our official work party season is over, and we're pretty close to ready for winter. The Fossils (their name for themselves) are going up next week to put Tom Cat back together, and that should be it.
This weekend we installed and covered the hill drains, installed new snow fence on Psychopath, brushed South and Bull Moose, burned a bunch of brush on the Lane, sealed the fasteners on the uphill side of the roof, and manufactured another box for the terrain park. Inside the Lodge we cleaned and prepped for the MOFA seminar this coming weekend, and removed a few more chemistry experiments from the fridge. In all, a very productive weekend. The highlight was Cordelia Franklin and her friend Rosemary delivering fresh made chocolate chip cookies to the volunteers. They hiked up to the brush burning crew on the Lane, then came all the way over to South. Nothing but the best for our volunteers at Meany.
The food was great. We added a great Squash soup and a black bean soup to the do again list, as well as, a Banana-Chocolate Strudel dessert. John Maltman will be cooking again soon, don't miss it.
There is now an espresso maker in the observer shack at the top of the Mach tow courtesy of Dan Nord. So, when you thighs are burning, you can take a spell in the shack and make yourself a refreshment. Cool Huh!!! Just keep your eye on the big red switch.
Now it's time to start praying for snow!
Regards all,
Chuck Welter
