We had a crew of 12 show up and began to tackle the chores required to get the lodge ready for
winter. One of the tasks was to see what the damage was with all the snow from last winter. As you
can see psychopath took a beating. The first picture shows Brian in foreground and Chuck in
background showing that the entire safety fence is going to need to be fixed. The second picture
has Emilio, Chuck and Brian posing with the type of trees that had fallen and need to be removed.
The third picture with Emilio in foreground and Brian in background shows how high (and thick) the
brush has gotten. High enough that a major bushwacking will be required. If these three task
don't get don't get done, psychopath most likely will be closed for the winter. The fourth and
final one shows operator shed. With all the snow weight, it start to lean, the fossils righted it
and installed tension wires on the supports to prevent it from happening again.
Note Update: Don't worry Amy; as of the end of November Psychopath will be open.
The pictures below show the ox in desperate need of new brakes and tires, Brian doing the
Herculean jobs of brush chipping, and a picture of our new cat, yep we got it. Chuck was so
overjoyed that he decided to have a "Name the new snow cat contest". Rules and more pictures are
on the
New Snow Cat
page, but the main rule To enter you need to be at a work party and hand
deliver your entry to Chuck.
Not shown in pictures is Andy and his wife, along with Phil, cutting and bring trees for splitting. Christopher Marasco and Dave Claar marking trees not to be cut by power company. Ray, as usual, doing his finest in the kitchen. Alex power washing ox and new cat. And lastly, Shojin, Christopher and Juliana providing help to Phil and Emilio in splitting and stacking the firewood.
Several of us REALLY enjoyed Ray's Beef Wellington. Some said the peanut butter & anchovy pizza wasn't that bad either, Chuck claims he wouldn't know!! The brownies & ice cream dessert was pretty good too.
The women's dorm construction is pretty much wrapped up, thanks to Phil C & James K.
Deb C, Linda H & Jo E made great strides on the painting too, But they could use some help next
work party.
Art F, Dan R, Elizabeth F, Jerry T, Andy S, Elena K, Dan N and Ken H, and probably a few others that Chuck didn't see, cleared a serious path off the side of South. We can't wait for snow to try this out.
Jim F with friend completed servicing the tows.
Yet to do:
Our next work party will feature FRESH apple cider. Phil is bringing up 100+ lbs of apples and Norm is bringing the press. What we don't drink at dinner we'll share with whoever want to take some home!! Bring your own jug.
Well, for such a light turn out, it was a very productive weekend.
Since the belts did not arrive in time for this work party, mainly splitting wood and finishing up brushing the hill took most of the effort. and the chair cooked.
that the tracks didn't arrive in time for the last work party, so an extra work party was set up for
the weekend of Nov 18 . To see the arrival of Moose and the installation click on
