Hike Descriptions

Organized hikes are offered Saturday and Sunday. The hikes are in the Stampede Pass and Snoqualmie Pass area. The hikes are of different levels of difficulty, though all are geared toward children.

We are still organizing hike leaders and finalizing the full offering of hikes for this year. The following are the hikes we have organized:

Cottonwood and Mirror Lakes

Approximately 0.7 mile to Cottonwood and 0.4 miles further to Mirror lake. Beyond Mirror lake is a beautiful panorama of Lost Lake Basin. Total mileage for the trip is 1.4 miles. The total elevation gain is 640 feet. This is a good children's’ trail. The trailhead is near Lost Lake, which is approximately 4 miles from the Lodge. You will need a trailhead-parking permit.

Berry Hike— Stampede Pass to the Lodge

Mostly level walk through salmon berries and huckleberries along the Pacific Crest Trail. Stop for lunch near the Stampede Pass Weather Station with views over the Yakima River Valley. After lunch the trail descends 600 vertical feet through several acres of ripe wild strawberries on the way back to Meany Lodge. Stampede pass Summit to the lodge is approximately 4 miles. The decent is steep at times, often with bad footing. This hike is not suitable for some hikers.

Berry Hike and Lizard Lake

Hike the beautiful contours of the Pacific Crest Trail to the lunch spot near the Stampede Pass Weather Station. After lunch, return to Stampede Pass on the Crest Trail. Then, take a side trip to explore Lizard Lake. This hike is suitable for our youngest hikers to walk.

Stirup Lake

This is a easy trail along Meadow Creek to a pretty little lake in the woods. An ideal lunch spot on a warm Summer day. This pretty trail goes along Meadow Creek with a 400 foot elevation gain for about 0.7 mile to the junction with the Pacific Crest Trail. From the PCT the trail passes through a small clear cut overgrown with huckleberry bushes. Near the lake the trail enters the woods again and immediately leads to a nice campsite and open spot on the lake. The lake is shallow with shores overgrown with bushes but very beautiful.
