08 Winter Storm that ate Meany

To all Meanyites; I'm sure you are wondering, what were the conditions at Meany during the pass closures. Well our own Jim Fahrey, decided to see what is was like, and the images were all taken by him. i always thought Jim like skiing, just didn't think is was this much :-)

Note: To show you just HOW MUCH snow fell, at the bottom, we put in some summer pictures showing approximately the same image

These three were taken at Trollhaugen - I really like the "hairdoo" that Tom has; very dignified.

After Jim cleared off pac-rat he took off, the first picture is on FR 5400. The next two are at the RailRoad Crossing, note the stop sign, usually the sign is two feet above the snow line. Now the third picture shows the 6 ft snow wall created by the BNSF when the cleared the track. Remember there is another one on the other side

At this time Jim decided " Why if I want to go to the Lodge, I need to skin up and try to ski in". Which, he being the dedicated skier and all, he did. The following pictures tell the story

The first one is approaching the lodge going past the generator hut, second and third are looking at lodge kitchen entrance, notice you can't even see the log room.

The first and second one shows the tunnel side of the Lodge. Third one is of the girl's dorm fire door. It is completely covered. what you see is the committee dorm's.

The next two show a closer look at the tunnel entrance, winter and summer. Lastly, the cat house, note what you are seeing is the second floor.

Then next ones are kind of interesting. The bulldozer hut is completely buried, the basketball hoop is such that even Emilio can now play !!! And the coat rack is almost covered over

Now, I really know you all have been asking "Enough of the Scenic tour, "Get to the tows !!!!!" Well here the are. This series show the tow huts in winter and summer

Finally the view up "the lane". Now as a perspective of just how much snow, the last two pictures are of the tow hut with people at the base. guys were talking 8-10 feet of snow :-)
